FAQ

FAQ.

What's the difference between FinalDrop and just sending a Google Drive link?

A plain Drive link sends clients to Google's interface — generic, no branding, no tracking. With FinalDrop, you wrap that same link in a branded Portal: your project name, a hero image, a countdown if you set an expiry. You'll also see exactly when they opened it and whether they clicked to access the files.

Do my clients need to create an account or install anything?

No. They open the link in any browser and see your Portal immediately. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to install.

What happens after the link expires?

The Portal shows an expiry message and the original file link is no longer accessible through FinalDrop. Your files on Google Drive or Dropbox stay untouched — FinalDrop just stops showing the button.

Can I see whether my client has opened the link?

Yes. FinalDrop logs every Portal view with a timestamp, and records when the client clicks the button to access the files. No more sending a link and wondering.

Can I customise how my Portal looks?

On the free plan you can set a hero image, project name, and description. With Pro you also get custom brand colours and video backgrounds — so every Portal feels like it was built for that specific client.

What's the difference between the Free and Pro plans?

Free gives you 3 Portals with core features: password protection, expiry dates, and activity tracking. Pro unlocks unlimited Portals, custom brand colours, video backgrounds for each Portal, the option to remove the 'Powered by FinalDrop' badge, and advanced analytics with unlimited history.

Who gets the reminder, me or my client?

Right now, it's you. When a delivery sits unopened for a while, FinalDrop lets you know, so you're not stuck checking the dashboard over and over. We won't email your clients to chase them. Whether to follow up, and how to word it, stays your call. (Reminders that reach the client directly are in the works, and when they arrive they'll be opt-in and fully under your control, never on by default.)

Can the delivery record serve as proof of delivery?

Yes. FinalDrop keeps a clear trail of each delivery: when the client first opened it, from where, and when they clicked to download. If a client ever says they never received it, or you need to pin down who looked and when, that record is right there for you to export. It faithfully logs every moment the link was opened and downloaded, so the fact that you delivered is on record.

How is FinalDrop different from WeTransfer?

WeTransfer is designed for one-off file transfers that expire after 7 days. FinalDrop is a persistent portfolio portal — your clients get a branded delivery page, not a raw download link, and you control expiration, passwords, and featured works.

How is FinalDrop different from Pixieset or Pic-Time?

Pixieset and Pic-Time are full photo delivery platforms — they host your photos, charge per gallery, and lock you into their ecosystem. FinalDrop doesn't host files: it connects to your existing cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) and wraps it in a professional portal. No storage fees, no lock-in.

Are my files stored on FinalDrop?

No. FinalDrop is a portal, not storage. Your files stay on your own cloud service (Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc.), and we just provide the branded access layer. If you delete a FinalDrop portal, your files are untouched.

What is the Portfolio page?

Every FinalDrop account comes with a public portfolio page — a single link that lists all your featured work in one place. You can share it with new clients so they can browse your past projects before you even create a delivery portal for them. Pro users can customise it with a hero image, brand colour, and video background.

Do you support custom domains?

FinalDrop supports custom subdomains in the format yourname.finaldrop.io — available on the Business plan. This means every portal you create is served from your own branded address, not a generic FinalDrop URL. Full custom domain support (e.g. delivery.yourstudio.com) is on the roadmap.

Will my client photos be published to the portfolio automatically?

No. Each delivery portal is private by default — visible only to whoever has the link. Cases appear on your public portfolio page (yourname.finaldrop.io or /@yourname) only when you explicitly mark them as public in your photographer dashboard. Weddings, family, and private commercial work stay private by default; you can toggle public or private at any time.

What permissions does FinalDrop have to my Google Drive / Dropbox?

You authorise us to read only the specific folders or file links you select — not your entire cloud drive. We do not write to, modify, or delete any of your files. The authorisation can be revoked at any time from your Google or Dropbox dashboard; once revoked, FinalDrop immediately loses access. Existing portals will show "source revoked", but your original files are completely unaffected.
